Five and a Half Journals

Five and a Half Thiebaud's Cakes Journal
Five and a Half Cup o Noodles Journal

I love these nifty journals from Five and a Half. Not only are they pretty to look at, but the illustrations are making me hungry for cake and noodle soup. Each Five and a Half journal is made with sugarcane and recycled text-weight paper with an envelope style inner pocket to keep loose papers. Cover options include illustrations and vintage style photographs, which are printed in fade-proof ink. $22-$30 at Five and a Half. Thiebaud’s Cakes and Momofuku designs pictured above.

Basic Grey Papers

It’s grungy. It’s dirty. It’s worn. It’s completely awesome. Basic Grey specializes in creating “cutting edge scrapbooking paper that reflects a raw, progressive design style.” I’ve not seen scrapbooking paper like it before, and I can see their papers being used in collage projects, as the basis for favor boxes or place cards at weddings with an edge, and a thousand other projects that have my mind racing with ideas.

Art Eggs and Happy Easter

Art Egg Icons

A few years ago, I became obsessed with desktop icons and made this set as a twist on the traditionally decorated Easter egg. The set includes six modern art inspired eggs (Warhol, Lichtenstein, Mondrian, Magritte, Picasso, and Escher). Download the eggs here. My apologies, Mac users, but this set only works in Windows.

Happy Easter!

Martha Stewart Crepe Paper Easter

Martha Stewart Crepe Paper Easter Crafts

I know that I just mentioned Martha the other day, but the woman has so darn many pretty paper crafts that I have to mention her again today. I happened to catch her show this morning, and she made the cutest crepe paper adorned egg bunnies and crepe paper flowers. Here’s the how to with links to templates that you can use to make your flowers and bunnies.

I didn’t see a resource section for this craft, but it looks like both Dick Blick and MisterArt carry sheeted crepe paper, with MisterArt carrying a much wider range of colors.
