52 Weeks of Mail

I was SO excited to hear about the new 52 Weeks of Mail project from Kimberly Costa of Honizukle Press, the graphic designer for this awesome new project and a member of the Etsy Greetings Team, who created said awesome project.

52 Weeks of Mail is “all about getting back to sending cards and letters to loved ones and fostering relationships that way”, and participants are encouraged to be more intentional about keeping in touch with friends and family by sending out a card or letter each week for the next year. I know that this is something that I’ve personally been trying to do recently, and though I love my computer and the interwebs, it’s so nice to unplug sometimes and to actually sit down and write a note or letter by hand.

52 Weeks of Mail begins on October 9, 2011 (appropriately, World Post Day) and continues through October 7, 2012. A free printable enclosure notecard with an explanation of the project will be available when the project launches, so you can help spread the word via the cards and letters that you send and encourage others to take part.

Papercut Jewelry by Mr. Yen

There are so many amazing new papercut pieces in the Mr. Yen shop that my mind is boggling at all of the hand cut loveliness. I love that Jonathan is exploring larger scale pieces, like the intricate “Today is Your Day” typographic papercut above, and his new collection of papercut leaf necklaces is divine.

The necklace collection was inspired by autumn leaves, and each piece is cut by hand using a scalpel. The delicate, feminine designs would make wonderful statement pieces for special events and occasions, and though they’re necklaces, I think that they would look wonderful as ornaments on a Christmas tree, too.

Bee’s Knees + Cat’s Pajamas Prints and Postcards

Aww, I am so digging these new, hand-lettered creations by Emily Martin of The Black Apple. The sweet new art pieces, which feature old-timey sayings, “You’re the Bee’s Knees” and “You’re the Cat’s Pajamas”, are available as either a set of postcards or individual art prints that lucky recipients can display as a daily reminder or affirmation.

Hi, everyone! I’m starting to get back into the swing of things after my week off – responding to the stack of emails I received while I was on vacation, getting really excited about all of the new paper goodies that are coming out this holiday season, and hunting around for more craveable paper goodies, like this awesome “You Are Ace” letterpress print by Laura Seaby, available at Keep Calm Gallery.
