Letterpress Cards by Wildhorse Press

Letterpress Cards

I’ve been doing just a leetle bit of shop-stalking since I featured a pre-Stationery Show sneak peek of Wildhorse Press’ line of letterpress goodies back in May, and I’m so excited to see that their online shop is now open! Wildhorse’s lineup of colorful, hand drawn and hand lettered cards are so much fun, and I think it’s a great thing that you can now go forth and pick up some of their awesome cards to add to your stationery stash. Be sure to check out the list of brick and mortar shops that carry their line, too. There might be some Wildhorse Press goodness right in your neighborhood.

Weekly Wrap #84 : DIY “Lace” Wrap

Weekly Wrap

Lace Gift Wrap

When I spotted this gift wrap idea from the peeps at Martha Stewart, my first reaction was “ooh, pretty colors”, quickly followed by “what a neat way to use lace”. This wrapping paper is made using scans of real lace on a black backdrop, and the coloring “magic” happens in a graphics program like Photoshop, so you can make the papers in any hue that you’d like. Best part? You don’t actually have to part with any of the precious vintage lace that you’ve been stashing away in order to create a pretty, lace-wrapped gift.

Star Charts by Brainstorm

These screen printed star charts by Brainstorm are so, so great. The two color, 18″ x 24″ prints show the major constellations in the skies of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and they’re the perfect gift for astronomy buffs with an eye for good design. You know I’m loving the navy and teal color palette, too. – found via French Paper

P. S. Do you have a favorite constellation? I’ve always been partial to Orion and Cassiopeia.

Off Book : Type (Video)

Thanks so much to Missy for letting me know about this great video from the PBS Arts Off Book series. The 7 minute video features conversations about typography from a variety of creatives, including Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones, Paula Scher, Eddie Opara, and Julia Vakser and Deroy Peraza, each coming at the topic from their own unique perspective. Though it’s a fairly short video, there’s lots of good stuff in there, and I just love their choice of the most beautiful font ever designed.
