Gifts for Paper Lovers 2009 : Gift Wrap

Now that you’ve gotten all of those craveable paper gifts, you may find yourself in the market for lovely wrappings and embellishments. Half the fun of giving a gift, at least for me, is in the wrapping. What paper will I use? What ribbon? What tags and/or embellishments? Is there something that I can use in an unexpected way for an extra special touch? I’ll also be the first to admit that I have asked for and received gift wrap as the gift itself, and I loved it!

Rifle Paper Co.

Rifle Paper Co

Hi, everyone! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and/or Thanksgiving holiday. I’m so excited to get back into the swing of things around here. My only issue around this time of the year is whether or not I’m going to have enough time to feature all of the paper lovelies that I want to feature!

The internet has been all abuzz with word of the grand opening of Rifle Paper Co., and I’m buzzing right along with everyone because I’ve been such a fan of Anna Bond’s lettering and illustration work since I first saw one of her fantastic invitation designs. Because I’m in holiday mode, I went right to the holiday collection, which features hand lettered greetings and illustrations for the season, and I’m super excited about the coordinating gift wrap sheets, too!

Rifle Paper also designs stationery, art prints, and most excitingly, will be offering personalized wedding invitation templates soon. Here’s a look at the lovely holiday collection:

Red and teal-y blue has been one of my favorite holiday color palettes for the past few years, and I’m also a big fan of red and chartreuse, so I instantly went crazy for these oh so pretty gift wrap ideas from graphic designer Kellie Medivitz. And guess what? Kellie has shared free printable downloads of the gift wrap sheets and gift tags as a part of her “It’s a Wrap” series of blog posts! I can’t wait to see what awesome gift wrapping ideas she has in store for coming weeks. Thanks for sharing, Kellie!

A Letterpress Christmas 2009 : Smock

A Letterpress Christmas 2009

I was like a kid and a candy store when I first got an eyeful of the beauties from Smock’s 2009 holiday line. Red, teal, cornflower, silver … some of my favorite holiday colors, and the patterned envelopes (I’m squeeing over these!), not to mention the letterpress greeting cards, invitations, and gift cards, are simply lovely. Reversible patterned gift wrap, too, so you can have a completely coordinated gift! Here are some of my favorites (see the entire line here):

Smock also has a great sale going on today — Green Friday, instead of Black Friday, as it’s known Smock headquarters. They will be donating 50% of the proceeds from all Friday sales through the Smock website to the Amazon Conservation Association, an organization integral to the fight against global warming through their efforts in protecting the Amazonian rainforests.

Weekly Wrap #1 : Pretty Purples

Weekly Wrap

I’m so excited to introduce the new Weekly Wrap series! This is something that I’ve wanted to do, literally, for years, and I’m very happy to finally be adding it to the site. So, what is the Weekly Wrap?

The Weekly Wrap is all about inspirational gift wrapping and packaging. Every Friday, I’ll feature a different gift wrapping or packaging idea that can serve as inspiration for your own gift wrapping or packaging projects. I’m looking for original projects, projects that are standouts — sophisticated, modern, handmade, out of the ordinary. Do you have a gift wrapping project that you’re particularly proud of, or have you spotted amazing gift wrap or packaging in your web travels? If so, then I’d love to hear from you!

Weekly Wrap, Carolyne Roehm

First up, Carolyne Roehm. Carolyne is the queen of gift wrapping, and I know that you’ll be seeing more from her in the coming weeks and months on the Weekly Wrap because I’m a big fan. If I received a gift wrapped by her, I’d have an extremely difficult time bringing myself to tear into the gorgeousness.

Berry tones are very hot right now, and I love the use of the magenta and purple Christmas ornaments, not to mention the oh so clever luggage tag, as accents. And, of course, the the paper and bow are perfect, too!
