This Week’s Picks (Hurricane Harvey Fundraising Efforts by the Creative Community)

It’s been almost two weeks since Hurricane Harvey devastated the Texas coast and left the city of Houston and surrounding areas in the midst of catastrophic flooding. If you’re in search of ways that you can help with the continuing relief effort, I’ve put together a list of stationery, paper crafting, and design shops that are helping to raise funds for a number of different charities who are active in helping those in the areas affected by the hurricane.

This list is by no means exhaustive, and please leave a comment or drop me an email if you or someone you know in the stationery, paper crafting, and design communities is helping with fundraising efforts, as well. I’m more than happy to add you to the list!

♥ Houston area resident and paper artist, Patricia Zapata from A Little Hut, created a Northern Mockingbird (the Texas state bird) themed set of SVG cut files (above, top left) during a sleepless night on one of the worst nights of the storm. All sales of the set will be donated to the Houston Food Bank.

♥ All proceeds from Little Low’s Texas art print (above, top right) with be donated to the Red Cross, specifically to the Hurricane Harvey disaster relief fund.

♥ All proceeds from Josh O.’s Houston Edition font (above, bottom right) will also be donated to the Red Cross for the disaster relief effort, and he will continue to donate every month for as long as the font is live.

♥ The Pigeon Letters has a number of different, hand lettered and pet-themed art prints (above, bottom left) with 100% of the proceeds going to the SPCA of Texas, Humane Society, and Austin Pets Alive, organizations helping animals that have been displaced as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

♥ Etsy has partnered with CERF+, a nonprofit organization focused exclusively on safeguarding artists’ livelihoods nationwide. CERF+ provides direct financial relief to artists working in craft disciplines who have suffered career-threatening setbacks from Hurricane Harvey, and Etsy will match every donation made through this page, up to $100,000.
