I’m a huge fan of dynamic flourishes and decorative ornaments in design, and I just love what Yee Haw has done with the vintage scrolls and swirls in their Cakewalk series. The A10 cards would be perfect for anything from chic party invitations to thank you notes to wall art. The letterpress cards are printed with chocolate brown ink and highlighted with either pink, chartreuse, or light blue inks. I’m really digging these letterpressed cards from Satsuma Press, an independent letterpress studio based in Portland, Oregon. What I really love about their designs is the way in which they use textures to create contrast. You’ll find large floods of bold, letterpressed color mingled with detailed botanical outlines, which create both visually and texturally engaging designs.

More from la marelle en papier, this time swoon inducing notebooks by artist and illustrator, Matt Pasquarello. Pasquarello’s style makes the art historian in me absolutely giddy with glee. Having a style that is naturalistic, with a touch of surrealism, his work brings to my mind the distinctive portrait styles of the Northern Renaissance artists.
