There’s no denying that things have been rough, to say the least, with the economy in recent months. It’s sometimes difficult to keep your chin up and smile when the bad news just seems to keeps coming. In times like these we really need a good laugh, and Rock Scissor Paper has given that to us in the form of their new Retro Recession Collection.

Cards in the collection are just $2.75 each and feature retro illustrations, colors, and sentiments like “Will Work for Chocolate” that take a more humorous look at the current economic situation. Watch for smiles and listen for laughter when you give these cards to friends, family, and co-workers.

What could be better than delicious chocolate in beautifully illustrated packages? The oh so pretty in pastel Godiva Easter packaging was illustrated by Lisa DeJohn and is now available for purchase on Godiva’s site (probably in Godiva shops, too).

Crepe Paper Flowers from Morgan Levine

The crafts department from Martha Stewart Living recently started a blog (yay!), aptly named The Crafts Dept., and it’s already been such an inspiration. I love seeing what goes on behind the scenes, and the “Crafting on the Side” posts have been some of my favorites.

Last week, The Crafts Dept. featured Morgan Levine, who creates gorgeous crepe paper flowers in sizes both large enough to dwarf a flower vase and small enough to decorate barrettes and brooches. Lucia Soaps Packaging

Lucia soaps were all over the design blogs last week, but I had to give them a mention here because I love the combination of the ultra modern labeling with the gorgeous patterned papers. One astute commenter over at design*sponge noted that the papers used in the packaging could be found at Paper Mojo and, indeed, many of the beautiful papers are from Wooster & Prince and Snow & Graham.
