Owen Gildersleeve Paper Illustration & Sculpture

My paper lovin’ heart skipped a beat when the incredible work of London-based designer, papercraft illustrator, and set maker, Owen Gildersleeve, popped up in my inbox recently. Gildersleeve’s illustrations often “play with light and shadow, frequently combining multiple layered paper-cuts with graphical forms and hand-rendered typography”, resulting in pieces with wonderful dimension and touches of playfulness that draw the viewer in immediately.

Gildersleeve’s clients include Google, Kiehl’s, Scientific American, and The Washington Post, and he is also the author of Paper Cut: An Exploration Into the Contemporary World of Papercraft Art and Illustration, which features the work of some of the world’s top papercraft illustrators, including many of my personal favorites, such as Yulia Brodskaya, Helen Musselwhite, Jeff Nishinaka, and Zim & Zou. Yeah, you know this book is at the top of my wishlist!

Crafty Moments Art Prints & Postcards from Kata Kiosk

I am completely taken with Crafty Moments, the newest collection from Lithuania-based Kata Kiosk. The collection, which was inspired by the unique mix of crafty tradition and modern vibes found in Lithuania, features illustrated art prints and greeting cards in Kata Kiosk’s wonderful, trademark style. I love Kata’s amazing ability to inject pattern into her work, and you can find it everywhere in this collection, from beautiful, lacy cables in a wintry trolley scene to lovely, floral floor coverings in a shoe selfie.

3D Paper Sculpture by Lorraine Nam

Lorraine Nam initially blew my mind back in 2010 with her incredible, intricate cut paper artwork. Seriously, if you love paper cut art, you’ve gotta check it out. More recently, she has taken a more three dimensional approach to paper, and she’s blowing my mind all over again.

Lorraine strives to make her work fun, bright, and happy, and she has most certainly hit it out of the ballpark on all three counts. I am absolutely lovin’ her 3D work, which is so realistic and detailed that it’s sometimes difficult to tell that it’s made of paper.

This series of monochromatic, 3D paper scenes that Lorraine created for the Racked holiday gift guide is just amazing, and spotting all of the special little elements and details puts yours truly in paper-loving heaven. I hope that it has the same effect on you!

Natural History Art Prints from Papio Press

I am totally digging this beautiful collection of Natural HIstory Art Prints from Papio Press. Each print features a wonderful array of fauna grouped by type, with names in English and Latin at the bottom of the print, so they’re pretty AND educational. Options include moths (shown above), big cats, bears, foxes, and wild dogs, and any of these awesome prints would be wonderful additions to the walls of a nursery, a child’s room, or pretty much any room in a nature lover’s space.

Watercolor Kilim Rug Art Prints & Cards by Golden Fox Goods

I am really digging these very cool watercolor kilim rug art prints from Golden Fox Goods. The colors are just fantastic, and I’m lovin’ the organic lines and texture that’s so prominent throughout the collection. Matching cards are also available, along with two kilim patterned gift wrap designs, and I think it would be totally awesome to give a completely kilim-themed gift. Give an art print or prints as the gift with a coordinating kilim card and wrap the package in kilim patterned gift wrap!
