They Draw and Cook

I love cooking and baking, and I love great illustration, so it was swoon at first sight when I spotted They Draw and Cook, a collection of “recipe renderings by artists, illustrators, and designers”, on Steve Mack’s blog. It’s so fun to see the creative ways in which the different participants present their chosen recipes, and for any publishers that might be reading, please make this into a cookbook! I think that many, many food and illustration fans, including myself, would snap it up in an instant.

They Draw and Cook has an open call for illustrators/cooks, so if you’re interested you can submit your own take on your favorite recipes!

Stukenborg Letterpress Dice Prints

It’s the start of what what will be a very rainy Monday (and Tuesday, and Wednesday…) here, but it’s all good because it’s a holiday week. Happy Passover to those of you who celebrate, and an early Happy Easter to those who will be celebrating the upcoming Good Friday and Easter Sunday!

I thought I’d start off the week with these wonderfully original letterpress dice prints from Stukenborg, which kind of blow my mind. Each pattern is built by laying dice, one by one, on the bed of the letterpress and rolling ink directly onto the face of the dice for each impression:

And here are some of the final prints. It’s amazing how many different patterns can be made with the dice:

Dan Stiles

Dan Stiles

Printeresting has excellent coverage of Flatstock 24, which was held at this year’s SXSW (South by Southwest) design conference, and the gig poster fangirl in me is in full swoon over a number of poster artists whose work they’ve featured, including Dan Stiles. I love, love, love his graphic style and use of color and would probably buy a copy of every one of his gig posters and art prints if I had more wall space and my wallet would allow!

Sora the Winter Angel Print

Illustrator Alberto Cerriteño has just released a gorgeous limited edition giclee print called Sora the Winter Angel, and I’m loving his wonderfully surreal style coupled with an oh so beautiful, subdued palette. The print is available as a limited edition of just 20 prints, so head on over and check it out before it’s sold out!
