Weekly Wrap #33 : Paper Cut Toppers

Weekly Wrap
Dimensional Paper Cut Gift Toppers

I absolutely love this idea for an alternative to the traditional ribbon or bow gift topper. Tracy, one of the new summer interns at The Crafts Dept. over at Martha Stewart Living, shares a DIY for this pop-up message “ribbon”, made from cut strips of paper. What a fantastic way to add a personal, handmade touch to any gift.

The link on this page doesn’t include that craft anymore. I’d be really curious how to do it, since it seems like a paper punch would cut the bottom of the letter, too!

Emily – I didn’t realize that the link had been changed. Just updated it so it links to the correct page!

Is this for sale? Can’t find the site. Please add if available. Some one must have it on the market. Can’t imagine cutting it my hand. What am I missing?

    Kaaren –

The toppers are cut by hand. Pretty ambitious, I know.

Something like this would be reserved for REALLY special gifts, but it’s such a cool idea.

jean – If you follow the link in the post, you’ll be taken to a page on the Martha Stewart site that has a photo gallery with all of the steps to make the toppers.

Hi, i cannot seem to find the step by step tutoral for this craft. Help please.. It looks way fun and personal. 🙂

naomi – Unfortunately, the original craft tutorial doesn’t seem to be available any longer. I looked around the Martha Stewart site but was unable to find it. Bummer.

If I recall correctly, these toppers were actually hand cut with an x-acto knife after the letters were traced on strips of paper.
