Planet Platonic Papercut Art

October 16th, 2009

I’m completely in awe over the amazing papercut artwork of Mayuko Fujino, aka Planet Platonic. Every piece is created by hand with an X-acto knife, washi (Japanese handmade paper), and pages from magazines, and I love the organic shapes and wonderful color found in these papercuts. Mayuko’s Flickr stream is a feast for the eyes, and a selection of papercut works are available through the Planet Platonic Etsy shop.

  1. The first one is breathtaking, beautifully intricate. It kinda makes me need to lift my jaw off the floor!

The top two are my favorites – I can’t even imagine how long the first piece took with all of the tiny intricate cuts. I love the loops and lines. Gorgeous work!!!
