Monster Friends Poster Series

Monsters aren’t always scary. Case in point is this irresistibly adorable Loch Ness Monster by Andy Young, featured in poster form as part of the fantastic Monster Friends Poster Series at Familytree Design + Illustration. The series features endearing monsters like the aforementioned Nessy, The Kraken by Alex Pearson, Yeti by Jeff Kandefer, and Sasquatch by Julian Baker. Each 12″ x 18″ artist edition poster is part of a limited run of 100 and is screen printed in two colors by Kangaroo Press. Collect all four!

Benign Objects Business Cards

Humina, humina! Check out these droolworthy business cards by and for Rachel Wiles of Benign Objects. I love it when I see business cards that feature a series of colors and/or imagery — like baseball cards or other collectible cards, I always have the urge to get one of each to complete the collection. These little beauties feature some of Rachel’s beautiful design and illustration work, and I’m loving the stained wood look.

Akimbo Invitations & Announcements

I’m absolutely delighted by these quirky, fun invitations from Akimbo. Recently opened by designer and fellow paper addict, Alicia Murphy, the Adelaide, Australia based shop, which serves clients worldwide, specializes in creating clever wedding and occasional invitations and announcements, and a line of greetings and stationery is on its way soon.

Akimbo’s lineup includes invitations inspired by everything from ’80s mixtapes to breweries and board games. I think that my favorite design has to be the Laundromat invitations (above), which feature sewn fabric invitation “cards”, a laundry themed RSVP, and mini bottles of suds. So much fun!

Lovi Birch Wood Postcards

It’s always so much fun when a designer combines greetings with something clever and crafty. I’m completely digging the Lovi line of postcards by Finnish designer, Anne Paso. The innovative cards include die-cut birch wood pieces that the recipient can assemble into three-dimensional ornaments or decorative pieces like piglets, hearts, and birds. You can purchase some of the Lovi line online at Merchant No. 4, and you can check out the Lovi site for a complete list of stockists in your area.

The Lovi line also includes mini ball ornaments and a super cool Christmas tree that you can assemble for a unique holiday decoration:

Weekly Wrap #38 : Knot & Bow

There’s a new shop called Knot & Bow on the virtual block, and I’m delighting over all of the gift packaging bits and bobs to be found there. Erin Ozer, owner of Knot & Bow, loves gift wrapping and pretty packaging, especially brown paper packages (a woman after my own heart), and these loves serve as the inspiration for the shop.

Browsing around, you’ll find kraft paper seals and heart stickers, glassine bags, seam binding ribbon, twine, and more, including the Classics Gifting Kit, which features a wonderful array of items from the shop. Erin’s working on adding new kits, too, so be on the lookout for those soon!
