So Long, Google Reader

So Long, Google Reader

Well, the time has finally come to say so long to Google Reader, which will be shutting down on July 1. I know, I know. I have definitely waited until the last minute to mention it, maybe because Google Reader was my RSS reader of choice and I was kind of hoping that the peeps at Google would change their minds before July, but more likely because I’ve been preoccupied with moving and house hunting over the past few months. Either way, the day after tomorrow it’s time to say sayonara!

In preparation from the upcoming Google Reader shutdown, I’ve set up a daily email that you can sign up for to have all of the latest Paper Crave posts sent directly to your email inbox (a sign up form is also included below each individual post here). Very convenient, and pretty darn easy to get going with, too!

If you have been using Google Reader to view Paper Crave posts and are looking for an RSS reader replacement, then I’d recommend checking out Feedly or Bloglovin’. You can also “like” the Paper Crave page on Facebook and keep up with me on Twitter, where I hope to be more active again soon.

So long, Google Reader! It’s been nice knowin’ ya.

Tom + Emily’s Moonrise Kingdom Inspired Wedding Invitations

Tom + Emily's Fox and Bear Save the Dates

When Tom and Emily first started imagining what their wedding would look like, they had a woodland theme in mind. Their mild obsession with foxes and bears (see their adorable save the dates above), along with their love of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, were brought together to create a wedding invitation suite that’s sweet, quirky, and completely awesome.

Tom, a software designer by day and a wannabe physical product designer by night, designed all of the paper goods, and the couple printed them by hand on his parents’ Adana letterpress. The notebook style invitations speak to the couple’s enthusiasm for both notebooks and quality paper goods. And they’re so darn fun, with photos and maps for invited guests to enjoy.

Tom and Emily also printed coordinating coasters and activity packs to place on the tables at the reception, so everyone had plenty to do and many opportunities for interaction and conversation.

They also designed custom place cards (printed by Moo), assigning each guest a different animal – sometimes with very amusing results, which allowed for even further conversation between the guests.

The couple’s guest book was another Wes Anderson-inspired idea. Everyone was issued a “registration card” to fill in and instructions to have their photo taken. The messages to the couple and hilarious accompanying photos have become one of their most treasured possessions and will undoubtedly be something that they revisit for years to come.
