Silhouette 2013 Black Friday Sale

Before I head off to spend some time with family this Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to share a great sale that Silhouette has going on starting today and running through December 8th. They have several bundle deals on die cutting machines, as well as a 40% off sale happening in their shop. Click the image below for more details, and use code CRAVE during checkout to receive your discount.

Psst … I’ll also be updating my sales and events page with some fantastic deals from stationers around the web for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and beyond, so be sure to check it out!

In addition to the big sale, I want to share a holiday card project that I made using my Silhouette, and you can pick up the die cutting files for this project for just $1.00 over at k.becca.

I love the look of white on white, so I experimented with the look by die cutting the “joy to the world” phrase from white cardstock and heat embossing it with clear embossing powder (you can’t see the effect very well in the photo, but it gives the words a nice, glossy look).

I then ran the die cut words through my Xyron so they’d be easy to adhere, and I layered the words over the same white cardstock, this time embossed withe Lifestyle Crafts’ triangle embossing folder to give the card some depth and texture. Silhouette sent me some of their fantastic adhesive cardstock, and I used the warm gray color for the die cut scalloped border. Finally, I added dots of Christmas Red Stickles in the center of each scallop for a little bit of color and texture.

Holiday Photo Card Favorites

Over the past few years, the market for holiday photo cards has grown by leaps and bounds. As a result, we have so many beautifully designed cards to choose from, and the designs can accomodate everything from a single, full bleed or framed personal photo to a collage of several photos – whatever works best for you and your family.

This year, thanks to the huge trend in foil stamped paper goodies, a few of the larger companies are also offering a selection of foil pressed designs in gold, silver, and red. Love it! Here are some of my favorite designs from this year’s crop:
