I’ve been a fan of illustrator Julie West’s work for a long time, and I’m so jazzed to see that she’s using letterpress to showcase some of her amazing work. This trio of limited edition letterpress prints is so fantastic!

Paper Cake Gift Card Holder by Tracey Mason

Can you believe that every element, minus the mini pinecones and berries, in this breathtaking cake is made out of paper? Pretty amazing, isn’t it? The incredibly talented creator of this beautifully handcrafted wedding treasure, which doubles as a gift card holder, is Tracey Mason, and I bow to her paper crafting greatness.

Tracey was inspired to create the cake when she found out that one of her good friend’s sons was getting married, and she kept the theme and colors for their wintry Utah wedding in mind as she created each detail. How honored the bride and groom must have been to receive this on their special day.

Tracey also created a coordinating card, embellished with the couple’s initials:

Mixtape Poster, Volume Two by Kate Bingaman Burt

The mixtape holds a special place in my heart, and these awesome, lovingly hand-illustrated mixtape posters by Kate Bingaman Burt (screen printed by Rand Renfrow) bring back so many great memories of exchanging tapes with my friends in junior high and high school and of me sitting in front of my boombox with the radio on, waiting for that one song to come on the radio station so I could immediately press the “record” button, which never quite worked out perfectly because I always either got the end of the dj talking or only pressed the button halfway down for a second or two, so there was always a squiggly, high speed part at the beginning of the song before I realized what was going on and pushed the button down the whole way. I still have several cherished mixtapes in my ever dwindling cassette collection, and I’m going to have to dig them out and give them a listen because I’m all nostalgic now. – found via Bangback

Large Scale Origami Installations

If only I saw decorations this inspiring at any of the local malls, then I might go more often! Emily from Paper Tiger Press sent over these jaw-droppingly beautiful, large-scale origami art installations that she spotted on a visit to the Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok. They give so much life and color to the space that they’re in, and I hope that you find them as inspiring as I do.

P.S. I’m also excited to hear that Emily is spreading the letterpress love to Singapore, where she founded her country’s only letterpress studio, Paper Tiger Press. Go, Emily!
