Starshaped Press Blox Letterpress Cards

Starshaped Press Letterpress Blox Cards

I love it when I can see peeks at the techniques used to create fantastic paper goods, and I’m absolutely enthralled by the new collection of letterpress greeting cards from Starshaped Press. The Blox series features four designs, each created by painstakingly hand setting each little block (as in the photo above —yep, every little block of both the shaded letters and the solid background had to be set by hand) to create the letterforms (with an awesome shading pattern, I might add) and the solid banner background areas.

The cards are printed on gray chipboard, and the end result is a very cool collection of letterpressed greetings with a stylized, retro modern feel. You can find the Blox cards in Starshaped Press’ Etsy shop, and here’s some eye candy from the collection:

Letterpress Baby Congratulations Cards

I have to say that The Social Type’s letterpress baby congratulations cards are probably the most swoonworthy baby congrats cards that I’ve ever seen. The combination of letterpress and foil stamping (silver foil for boys and gold foil for girls) is absolute perfection, and I’m completely taken with the lovely typography and star and stripe details. Plus? The “Official Cutie Headquarters Seal” — hello, awesome!

YASLY Letterpress Virtues of Man Prints & Leather Engraving

I’m amazed by these Virtues of Man letterpress prints from YASLY, a Florida based design collective “comprised of fellow musicians, leather craftsman, letterpress artisans, house wives and carpenters”. The imagery in these prints is so powerful and brings to mind Freemason imagery and da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.

And I’m in complete awe over YASLY’s laser engraved leather pieces. Wow. They’re both sold out, but I just had to include them here.

Stitched Booklet Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Oh my gorgeous! I’m loving what seems to be a growing trend in storybook style wedding invitations, and these lovelies, designed for Amy + Adam by Craig Duffney of BBDO New York and printed by the always fierce Studio on Fire, are jaw-droppingly beautiful.

The stitched booklet invites feature two sets of illustrated capitals and graphics — soft, rounded, romantic elements in a lighter green for the bride and rougher, spiked elements in olive green for the groom — which intermingle wonderfully to create this magical suite. Adam, the groom, is originally from Ontario, Canada, and I love how the Canadian maple leaf was incorporated into his graphics.
