Pop Up Book : Chanel Spring 2009 Couture Collection

Chanel Spring 2009 Couture

Jaw, meet floor. Karl Lagerfeld chose paper as a theme for Chanel’s Spring 2009 Couture Collection, and the images speak for themselves. Absolutely stunning. And, who would’ve guessed that Karl Lagerfeld loves paper?!

The set, created under the direction of Stéphane Lubrina, featured 7000 handmade paper flowers, made from glass based paper, which took a total of 4800 hours and a team of 40 people to create.

The georgeous head pieces worn by the models were also made from paper by Japanese hairstylist Katsuya Kamo. I really, really hope that the head pieces (all of the flowers, actually) go to some sort of fashion museum or collector’s home because my heart breaks thinking that they may be forgotten after the show. You can send some my way, Karl! – found via Poppytalk

Pajaki Chandelier by Wren Handmade

Pajaki Polish Paper Chandelier

Check out this beautiful Polish Pajaki chandelier that Wren Handmade created for her husband’s aunt (his family is Polish) for Christmas. She took her inspiration from a paper chandelier that she purchased at the Polish Art Center, and I’m so inspired by both creations!
Side note: Pajaki translates to “spiders of straw”, and if you do not like spiders, please be warned that Googling “Pajaki” will bring up lots of pictures of big, fat spiders instead of pictures of beautiful paper chandeliers. Bleh!
