The Heart of Papercuts Blog

Heart of Papercuts

Oh. My. Wow. It’s pretty well established here that I love papercuts (a.k.a. scherenschnitte), and I’m simply blown away by the work of Elsa Mora, whose work can be seen on her blog, The Heart of Papercuts.

In addition to being a showcase for her gorgeous paper creations, the blog also serves as a treasure of papercutting resources, including links to other artists, organizations, tutorials, shops, supplies. If you enjoy scherenschnitte, then this is the place to go!

Check out this super clever tutorial from Cheeky Magpie about creating a pumpkin decoration from a book. What a great way to recycle old books, and what a fun seasonal decoration. Just think of all of the possibilities for other holidays! via Craftzine

Psst…while you’re visiting, you’ll want to check out the jointed Scaredy Cat Halloween decoration, too.

The Small Object Recipe Review Post It Notes

The Small Object really has it going on with clever recipe-related creations! I mentioned the cute recipe writing stamp set back in August, and I just spotted these nifty recipe review post-it notes over on her blog. As someone who has cookbooks and recipes all over, I can really appreciate the need for a review system like this to keep track of what you tried and liked and what you tried and never want to try again.

Celestefrittata Magical Notebooks

Magical Notebooks

Magical Notebooks

I’m completely taken with these Magical Notebooks from Genova, Italy based Celestefrittata that I spotted over on Poppytalk today. Each handbound book is the size of a moleskine, and the covers feature original drawings by Elena Torre, screen printed with a Gocco. The edges of the notebook pages are actually torn by hand, and the covers are “aged” with a black inkpad. Amazing…and magical, indeed!
