I’m always excited to see what new and beautiful creations Ann Martin, quilling artist extraordinaire, has been working on, and this unique marriage certificate makes my heart go pitter-patter. The custom certificate was created for Christine and Kenneth’s May wedding and features gorgeous calligraphy by Living Letters Studio, which perfectly compliments the quilled monogram.
The quilled design is an interpretation of a monogram that was designed for the couple’s wedding stationery by Ice Cream Social (see below), and its many flourishes and small details lent themselves perfectly to quilling. The joy that Ann took in creating the scrollwork, initials, and individual elements truly comes through in the finished certificate, which will be a lovely reminder to the couple of the spoken vows, as well as the names of those who were present at the marriage, for years to come.
A note about marriage certificates: the ones that Ann creates generally measure 22 x 30 inches and are usually signed by the bride and groom and everyone present at the wedding. By signing, the guests are pledging their steadfast support of the couple in their marriage. The certificate also functions as a substitute for a traditional guestbook.
The original monogram on which the quilled piece was based.
