Looking for a last minute Halloween craft project? Yamaha Motor in Japan has two cute 3-D Halloween paper crafts that you can download and make for yourself. I love the attention to detail — the jack-o-lantern even has a little paper candle for the interior as part of the design!

Meomi had me from the first moment that I saw their too-cute-for-words illustrations. Imagine my delight when I recently discovered they they’ve just published a book filled with their cutie-ootie mascots! The book is called The Octonauts and the Only Lonely Monster and is available from Amazon.com, which has this description of the book:
The Octonauts are a crew of adorable animals who roam the ocean in search of adventure, treasure, and fun! From their undersea base called “the Octopod,” the Octonauts explore a colorful world full of thrills, chills, and gills! These eight talented critters, including a brainy octopus, brave polar bear, daredevil kitten, and scientific sea otter, are always ready to embark on a new, exciting voyage.
In this debut episode, the Octonauts encounter a giant sea monster that is actually looking for companionship. Is he the only one left of his kind in the ocean? The Octonauts’ mission is to find out! Along the way everyone learns the special value of friendship and individuality. The Octonauts will charm children, attract adults who appreciate sophisticated design and subversive humor, and guarantee readers will stay tuned for the next Octonauts adventure!
Honestly, this book would still be on my wishlist if it only contained meomi’s trademark adorable illustrations and didn’t bother with a story. It would make the perfect holiday gift for your sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and yourself!
Meomi also has greeting cards and magnets featuring the Octonaut characters, and you can find out more about the book and download coloring book pages and desktop backgrounds at The Octonauts’ website. I can’t wait for the Octonauts posters! Love it!

I really got into making desktop icons a few years ago and created these characters as part of a Halloween “ghoulies” icon set. Spooky, huh? I liked them so much that I ended up making gift tags from some of the ghoulies and attaching them to Halloween treat bags to give to family and friends. I think that I might make stickers from them one of these Halloweens, and I’ll probably make more gift tags, too. You can download the icon set for your desktop here (sorry, Mac users, but these are only compatible with PCs).
I’ve been a fan of glamscience for a while and, as a result, have amassed quite a collection of their sparkly cards. The boo, spooky, and creepy Halloween cards have always been some of my favorites. It’s tough to decide on a favorite because they’re all so fun, but at $4.00 each you don’t have to have a huge budget to get all three. Who couldn’t use a bit of glitter around this time of the year?
