Paper Rosette Love

Alright, so I’m going to be honest and admit that I’m not exactly sure what these are called — paper pinwheels, accordion fold circles, circular paper fans, paper rosettes? I’ve seen them referenced as all of these, but no matter what they’re called, they’re hot, they’re pretty, and they’re incredibly versatile. I love seeing the rosettes incorporated into everything from wedding decor to gift wrap and rubber stamping and holiday decorating projects. Here are a few of my favorites:

The ABCs of Branding

ABC Branding Poster

I’m a huge fan of the “ABC” posters and prints that have been so popular over the last year or so, and this one from The Best Part is one of the most clever and cool ones that I’ve seen. Using no ink whatsoever, the posters are a foil stamped and embossed A to Z of some of the most famous logos of all time, including Ford, Kellogg’s, Xerox, and lots more logo lover eye candy. Posters are available in two colorways: silver foil on black and gold foil on cream. – found via Paper Tastebuds

New Zealand Book Council : Going West

The New Zealand Book Council has released an absolutely amazing video, produced by Colenso BBDO and animated by London based Andersen M Studios, which uses paper craft animation to promote books and reading. The animation features paper cut imagery using Maurice Gee’s novel Going West, and eight months of intricate paper cutting work went into creating the final two minute video. Amazing, amazing work! Many thanks to Kelly for letting me know about this wonderful work of art.

Steve Mack Illustrated Holiday Cards

Steve Mack Holiday Cards

Though the holidays are officially over, I can’t resist telling you about a magical holiday countdown that I can’t believe I missed during December. Illustrator Steve Mack shared a card per day from his 2009 personal holiday card collection, and every day is a treat. I love his style, and that color palette is fantastic! You can check out a few cards from Steve’s collection below, and you can see every card in the countdown over at his blog, Spot Illustration.
