Awesome Posters + Prints, July Edition

I’ve been coming across a bundle of fantastic posters and prints lately, so I thought I’d take the chance to do a little roundup. Here we go!

Believe it or not, Jessica Hische didn’t actually design this stunning poster for a lecture that she gave at Mississippi State University. Jude Landry, who was inspired by Jessica’s Daily Drop Caps (and who isn’t) did! You can purchase one of these beauties from Jude. – via FPO

Jeff Nishinaka Paper Sculpture

Jeff Nishinaka Paper Sculpture

I spotted the work of paper sculptor, Jeff Nishinaka, on @atelierisabey‘s Twitter (via The Cool Hunter) the other day, and to say that his work is stunning would be an understatement. When you see his creations, it’s hard to believe that they’re made out of paper. They appear to be finely chiseled marble, or even molded plaster, but they’re all paper. Wow.

Jeff’s paper sculpting career has spanned 28 years, and his commercial portfolio includes clients such as Bloomingdale’s, Visa, Penn State University, Paramount Pictures, Harvard Medical School, Random House, and Mattel, for whom he designed these beautiful, custom Barbie sets:

Hail to the Chief Letterpress Print

I never thought I’d find myself getting excited over presidential portraits, but you have to admit that this Hail to the Chief letterpress print from 1Canoe2 is pretty darn cool. The print features hand drawn illustrations of the 44 presidents and is letterpressed in navy blue ink on bright white Crane Lettra paper. Who are your favorites — in a purely non-political way? I’ve always thought that Andrew Jackson had the most rockin’ presidential hair ever, and I love Grover Cleveland’s bow tie.

Unique Fingerprint Papercuts by Lori Danelle

Holy wow — talk about amazing and, literally, unique pieces of paper cut art. Graphic designer and paper artist, Lori Danelle, creates custom fingerprint papercuts that feature your very own fingerprints. The fingerprints are hand cut by Lori and would make wonderful keepsakes for weddings and anniversaries. I also love the idea of having one created to commemorate the arrival of a new child. Here’s a peek at Lori’s amazing work:

Dandy Lion Letterpress Sea Creatures Cards

Dandy Lion Letterpress Aquatica

I became an instant fan of Dandy Lion Press earlier this year after discovering their wonderful collection of Bunnylopes cards, and I’m currently fascinated by their collection of letterpress sea creatures, featuring amazingly naturalistic, hand drawn illustrations of jellyfish, old wives fish (interesting story behind the name of this fish), puffer fish, cod, and more. I love that many of the cards are blue on blue, further emphasizing the aquatic theme.

One of my favorites, the Blue Lobster Card, with the subject oriented so it’s split down the center by the fold of the card:
