Zara Picken Illustration + Art Prints

I am absolutely thrilled to have found the work of British illustrator, Zara Picken, whose mid-century modern style work has me swooning with unbridled, mid-century loving joy. Zara has a passion for vintage paper ephemera and finds inspiration in vast collections, large cities, and obscure music. She blends digital and handmade elements in her work, and I love her use of color and texture!

Zara’s clients include The Guardian, Sainsbury’s, Macmillan Publishing, and Waitrose, and here is a peek at what you’ll find in her portfolio:

And, thankfully for us, Zara also has an Etsy shop where you can purchase art prints of her work:

My Mind’s Eye Fine & Dandy Scrapbook Paper Collection

As I anxiously await the launch of more Christmas and holiday scrapbook paper collections, I’ve fallen in love with Fine & Dandy, the new collection from My Mind’s Eye. To be honest with you, there are usually a few patterned papers, even in my favorite scrapbooking collections, that are just not my style, but I’m swooning over pretty much everything in this collection. In fact, some of the reverse-side patterns are my favorites.

From the subdued, retro-y palette of browns, oranges, yellows, and teals to the fantastic, mid-century style patterns, there’s not much here that I’m not going gaga for. Want a look?

Lake Erie + Happy Halloween!

Jennifer Squires Lake Erie PhotographBefore I head off for a weekend of Halloween fun, I want to share this haunting photograph of Lake Erie by Jennifer Squires. Wow, right? Jennifer took this photo on her first trip to Erieau, Ontario, Canada, and the photo is so evocative that I find myself getting goosebumps every time I look at it. Limited edition prints of this ethereal seascape are available in Jennifer’s shop.

I actually have a personal connection to Lake Erie, as I went to college in a town about 45 minutes south of Erie, Pennsylvania and made many trips to Erie and Presque Isle State Park, so this photo also brought back a lot of good memories for me.

Have a Happy Halloween weekend, everyone! Stay safe, enjoy your parties and candy, and I’ll see you back here next week!

Weekly Wrap #46 : Bookplate Gift Wrap

Weekly Wrap

Bookplate Gift Wrap Present & Correct

This bookplate gift wrap from Present & Correct is brilliant and, though this gift wrap can be used on any type of gift, wouldn’t it be just perfect to use it to wrap a book that you’re giving as a gift?

The Bookplate Gift Wrap Set is Present & Correct’s first foray into gift wrap, and each set includes one sheet each of four different designs. The wrapping sheet designs were inspired by mid-century book covers, and I’m loving the geometric patterns and bold teal and purple color scheme.
