I spotted the work of paper sculptor, Jeff Nishinaka, on @atelierisabey‘s Twitter (via The Cool Hunter) the other day, and to say that his work is stunning would be an understatement. When you see his creations, it’s hard to believe that they’re made out of paper. They appear to be finely chiseled marble, or even molded plaster, but they’re all paper. Wow.

Jeff’s paper sculpting career has spanned 28 years, and his commercial portfolio includes clients such as Bloomingdale’s, Visa, Penn State University, Paramount Pictures, Harvard Medical School, Random House, and Mattel, for whom he designed these beautiful, custom Barbie sets:

gorgeous! they really are… i admire artists who create 3D paper pieces. i make 2D paper cuts but have been trying some three-dimensional ideas lately so these encourage me to keep on trying!
I’m completely blown away. The details, forms just everything is spectacular…so beautiful. Thanks for sharing his art.
