Trendspotting : Flamingos

Corals, peaches, and pinks are some of the hottest colors going in stationery, and what member of the animal kingdom best represents this part of the color spectrum? The flamingo, of course! I’ve noticed flamingos popping up all over – in greeting cards, art prints, and even on gift wrap – and expect to see more of these pretty in pink birds standing tall on stationery and paper goods of all sorts in the near future.

Psst … be sure to check out Karla Pruitt’s beautiful, tropical-themed playing cards, if you haven’t already, for more flamingo goodness.

Josie Portillo for Red Cap Cards

Josie Portillo for Red Cap Cards

Josie Portillo is the latest artist to become a part of the growing Red Cap Cards family, and I’m completely taken with her beautiful line of illustrated cards. Sentiments in the collection include everything from “Happy Birthday” to “Happy Holidays” and “Congratulations!”, and they perfectly compliment her lovely illustrations, which range from quiet landscapes to cute, creature-filled scenes.

You can see all of the cards in the collection right here, and you can find out more about Josie and her work in Red Cap’s Artist Spotlight.

Donut-Themed Paper Goods

Donut? Doughnut? I don’t care much about the spelling when it comes to donuts, some of the tastiest goodies (imo, of course) in the kingdom of sugary sweets. And, this Friday, we’re celebrating these awesome pastries with National Donut Day. Yep, they have their own day, just like pancakes and chocolate chip cookies!

In honor of this sweet day, I put together a little roundup of donut-themed paper goodies, which might not excite the tastebuds as much as their deep fried counterparts, but these craveable paper goods are definitely delicious eye candy.

Happy Donut Day, everyone!

How is it June already?! Father’s Day will be here before we know it – I say that about pretty much every holiday, but it’s true – and I’m kicking off this first week in June with another bunch of awesome Father’s Day cards. There’s plenty of great hand lettering and typography in this group, and you can check out parts one and two of my picks for even more dad-themed inspiration.
