Paper Goods Sales, August & September 2010

I sent out my second ever Paper Goodies newsletter this morning, and one of the sections that I include in the email is sales & discounts for the month surrounding the newsletter send date. I’m thinking of posting a list of sales and discounts on the site, too, every month when I send out the latest newsletter. Is this something that you would like to see every month on the site, or would you prefer that I keep it to the newsletter only?

This post will serve as a test for the possible new feature. Please let me know what you think!

The Envelopments Roll-O-Decks Giveaway Winner!

Envelopments Roll-O-Decks

You guys and gals rock! Seriously. I can’t get over how creative your entries for the Roll-O-Decks giveaway were — one of you even wrote a Roll-O-Decks poem (thanks, deb!), which totally made my day. Thank you for making the giveaway such a success, and thank you for sharing your creativity. I really wish that I could afford to get Roll-O-Decks for all of you!

Now, without further ado, the winner of the Envelopments Roll-O-Decks:

Envelopments Roll-O-Decks

Comment #200 was Courtney, who said:

I’d definitely use it as a sort of modified sketchbook! I tend to sketch out ideas on all sorts of random scraps of paper and end up losing them in giant purses, pockets, etc throughout the day. Carrying a few of these with me and returning them to the roll each night would help me keep track of my ideas. And I’d be at no loss for inspiration when sitting down at my desk with it right there in front of me!

Congratulations, Courtney! I’ll be contacting you shortly for your information so Envelopments can get your new Roll-O-Decks to you!

The Paper Crave Newsletters

I am so jazzed to be able to announce the launch of something that I’ve been thinking about for a while now. Allow me to introduce the Paper Crave Newsletters!

The first newsletter is for all of the paper lovers out there, which includes most, if not all, of you who are regular Paper Crave readers. Every month, you’ll receive an eye-candy filled menagerie of everything a paper lover covets. See a summary of what you may have missed on Paper Crave recently, and feast your eyes on bonus paper goodies, as well as sales, specials, giveaways, and new product launches from your favorite paper shops. I love the idea of having a place where I can not only give you a look at what’s been going on on the site, but also a place where I can share goodies and information that are beyond what I’ve been talking about here. Sign up for the Paper Crave Goodies List now!

I’m just as excited about the second newsletter, the Biz List. I’ve been working on the web as a designer, programmer, search engine marketing figure-r outer, and online business owner for about a decade now (man, that makes me feel old). During that time, I’ve picked up heaps of information about what it means to run a business on the web and, during the past almost four years of running Paper Crave, what it means, specifically, to run a paper goods business online. This newsletter is my place to open up a dialogue with you, the stationers, invitation designers, and other paper goods creators. Find out more and sign up for the Biz List (scroll down to the second entry form area for Biz List details).

I’ve also spruced up my contact page, including more details and guidelines about what I like to see in paper goods submissions.

And, if you have a shop/website and have an upcoming product launch, sale, discount, or special that you’d like for me to share in an upcoming Paper Goodies newsletter, please email me at biznewsletter@papercrave.com with details and dates. The first newsletter should be going out around mid-July, so anything that’s going on from mid-July to mid-August is something I want to hear about!

My 2010 National Stationery Booth List

National Stationery Show

Okay, guys, I think I’ve pretty much finalized my National Stationery Show booth list. I’ve checked it twice, à la Santa Claus, but I know that I may still have missed something, so just let me know if you catch any errors!

My list this year is 121 booths large, and instead of going alphabetically like I’ve done in past years, I’ve laid this year’s list out by booth number. I figure that this will work out better, organizationally, if you find yourself in a booth “neighborhood” and want to see who’s there. Also, for simplicity’s sake, I’ve only listed a single booth number per exhibitor. This should give you a good start at those businesses which have multiple booths. I made this year’s list a printable PDF, so you can easily print it out and take it with you to the show. That’s what I’ll be doing!

Download “The Paper Crave ‘I’m Sure I’ll See More Must Visit Booths While I’m There, But This is My Starter’ Booth List” right here.

Stay tuned for more fantastic sneak peeks tomorrow!

Update: So, I knew this was going to happen, but I’m already up to about half a dozen or so “write ins” on my list. Carina from Crow & Canary also put together a fantastic list of her pre-show picks, and that added several more to my list. How did I miss some of these great places?!

A Raffle for Liam

A Raffle for Liam

Lynn Russell, the talented designer and printer behind Satsuma Press, recently launched a raffle for her wonderful son, Liam, who just turned 6. Liam has a neuromuscular disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, and 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go toward building an accessible bathroom for this awesome little guy. The raffle will run until May 9th, and the lineup of artists contributing goodies for the raffle giveaway is absolutely stellar (you can see the full list of participants here).

You can find out more about Liam and this fantastic raffle, and purchase raffle tickets, over at We Love Liam. And, if you can, please help spread the word!
